Two passengers
Okay, this will be controversial. A pregnant lady has been using the commuter lane ever since she became pregnant. She was stopped by the police because there was only one person in the car. The rule for the commuter lane is that there has to be at least two passengers in the car. She stated that because she is pregnant, there are two passengers in the car. I believe if I was the judge I would have to rule that she is correct. If she were killed, then the person who killed her would be convicted of manslaughter of two people. If she was hit by another car and died, then the other person would have committed vehicular manslaughter of two people. And the right to lifers believe that the unborn fetus is a human being with rights at the time of conception. Therefore, this lady is correct, there are two passengers in the car. Does anyone else agree or do you disagree?

I think that the classification of the unborn fetus is irrelevant. The purpose of a commuter lane is to encourage carpooling to decrease the number of cars on the road. How is she decreasing the number of cars on the road by driving pregnant? Unless it was possible for the fetus to somehow drive on its own, I say she's guilty!
I agree, but I would not, personally, take advantage of that fact.
I have to agree with Mindy here. This is using an unrelated issue to use the coveted carpool lane. People actually buy dummies to ride shotgun so they can do this.
But this view begs the question, "does the passenger not count if they are not old enough to drive?" If they changed the law to state both passengers have to be licensed drivers, how are the lanes to be policed?
It raises some legal stickiness, but logic tells us that this is not car-pooling. This is an attempt by someone to get around the rules.
The rules behind the car pool lane were set up to encourage carpooling, which has many societal benefits. I guess people take joy in finding loopholes to gain rights that they are not entitled to, ignoring the good intents and purposes behind those rules.
Whether the fetus is considered a life or not, it's manipulation of the system. I'd make a bad judge.
