dry skin

My skin is so dry. When I put lotion on, it just pushes the dry skin scales around and doesn't soak in. The outside of my calves seem to be the worse part. Dry, scaly, and itchy. Oh my, don't you love the cold weather?

The best hand creme that I have ever found is "O'Keeffe's Working Hands Creme". I think I bought it at Meijer. I used to use it when I was working in the kitchens and washing my hands a lot. It works really good...as compared to those "mostly water" lotions.

Petroleum Jelly.

It is the ONLY thing that really works for extremely dry skin. In the winter, the skin between the bases of my fingers becomes so dry it's like Snake Skin, or alligator skin. Eventually, the skin starts cracking open and it gets really painful.

But if I use Petroleum Jelly it locks in the moisture, even moisturizes the dry, dry skin cells. It's a little greasy at first, but I usually wash my hands right after to take care of that, and they stay moisturized all through the day. So I usually put it on at night before bed.

Anyway, try it out! If it doesn't work, you're out $1.50 or less.

btw- many creams and salves are based on Petroleum Jelly - says right on the labels.
